How long does Seaman's book take?
It will take you at least four days to claim your SIRB using the MISMO system. However, if you choose to walk-in, you will be able to claim your SIRB on the same day as your application. It will take as long as you need to obtain a Letter of Commitment from a boat or shipping firm. Then you go to your nearest Coast Guard Inspection Station with that and a few other conveniently accessible documentation of identity and pictures, and they’ll process you there.
